Syma’s Participatory Public Art Project, ‘Memories and Wishes’, was recently permanently installed in a Lower East Side NYCHA community center lobby.
Her newest ceramic works are smoke-fired with added 24k gold and sometimes found objects.
Syma’s conceptual clay vessels, ceramic jewelry, and mixed media works have been exhibited internationally.
Her garden sculptures, ceramic tiles and sculpted architectural panels are installed in private homes and public spaces in Boston; Philadelphia; New York; London, England. Collectors of her studio works include Agnes Varis; Susan Paine; Art Complex Museum (Duxbury, MA); and the Yuko Nii Foundation in Brooklyn.
A freelance educator at the Metropolitan Museum since 1999, Syma’s residencies include: MAD Museum; Art Complex Museum; ICSHU- Hungary; Arts District-Breckenridge, CO; and Haystack’s OPEN STUDIO Residency.
