Syma has been working in clay with mixed media for nearly five decades.
Inspired by ancient artifacts and mythologies, she creates interactive ceramic vessels and sculpture installations as personal response to life events, wishes, and dreams.
Her large scale sculpted panels are permanently installed on walls of public and private buildings in the US and UK, and her ceramic jewelry has been featured at London, England's Lesley Craze Gallery.
Syma is a teaching artist at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Private and semi-private Family Art Workshops are held periodically in her Brooklyn studio.
